Starting July 4, 2010, AFC will only have one service. Sunday school will take place at 9:30 and the worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday Fellowship & Worship (6/23, 7/14, 7/28)

Join us on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month as AFC hosts a mid-week service we call “Wednesday Fellowship & Worship”. It starts at 6:00PM with a time of fellowship and food (this is a potluck meal which means everyone brings food and we share what we have). Immediately following our potluck meal there will be a short time of prayer. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Urgent Haiti Needs

To donate money for needs in Haiti, you can visit the International Allied Missions website at http://intlalliedmissions.org/ There is a Paypal button at the bottom of that page. Or, you can visit Heritage Bank in Kingston Springs (across from Sonic) and drop off a donation to the Rebuilding Haiti Fund. Know that 100% of your donations go directly to aid. Please spread the word. Many of our friends and colleagues will be looking for an organization to donate to and they want to know that their money is going directly to help.

In addition, we are working to replenish our supply of medical items needed to bring on the missions trip which is still scheduled for January 30 – February 6. Much of what was already collected has been used due to the earthquake. Please help by donating the following:

wash cloths
lotion
antibiotics
antibiotic ointment
anti-fungal cream
gauze, medical tape, etc.
petroleum jelly
eye drops for allergic symptoms
Tylenol and Motrin
vitamins
children’s chewable vitamins

You can now donate to Haiti through the website and Paypal. It’s as easy as two clicks. Please spread the word to your friends, family, and colleagues. Suggest that they give up going out to lunch one day and donate $5-10 instead to the Haiti Starfish project. That money goes a long way in feeding children who don’t normally get a hot meal. Lend a helping hand!

Iris McWhinnie and Elaine Duncan have volunteered to prepare the coffee each Sunday, however, they would love to have volunteers do the clean-up. It takes less than 10 minutes; simply empty the grounds, wash the coffee pots, and put up the snacks. A sign-up sheet is on the coffee table.

Starfish Update

We have met our $26,000 goal for the Starfish 2008-2009 school year! This program continues to feed lunch to the children that attend the school on the mountain. The economy in Haiti is hurting along witours and the cost has gone up as well. When we first started feeding the children it was 25 cents a meal per child but with rising prices of rice the cost has risen to 55 cents a meal. Please continue to give for the 2009-2010 school year. The children are healthier and their academic scores are rising. Thanks for your support. The IAM website is under construction as we speak. We hope to have a new website with an easy to donate Paypal link on the site very soon.

It only costs 25 cents to feed a child in Haiti a hot meal at school. In most cases, this is the only meal they will get all day. We are seeking to raise $13,000 to feed an entire school for one year. Please help us achieve our yearly goal by setting aside your quarters!
